Glenn Marshall, a computer artist, created a film that uses AI to narrate and visualise poems. Marshall uses the Story2Hallucination library to translate the words of Christina Rossetti’s poem “In the Bleak Midwinter” into appropriate visuals. Sometimes, the film takes these phrases literally, depicting “water like a stone” as a stone coming from water, for example.

The voice of Christopher Lee is artificially created using the vo.codes programme to narrate the poetry. The DALL-E library from OpenAI, which can translate words into graphics, demonstrates the growing potential of AI in the conversion of text to visuals. This development suggests a time when poets and writers will be able to use AI to easily convert their written work into visual material.
