The state-of-the-art The MusicLM model from Google can create beautiful music from textual descriptions like “a soothing violin melody with a distorted guitar riff.” The software sees the creation of music as a hierarchical, sequence-to-sequence job. MusicLM can improve pre-existing songs rather than just creating brief musical snippets, whether they were created through humming, singing, whistling, or instrumental means. The tool does, however, raise issues with copyright. Given its huge training data, Google admits that MusicLM might unintentionally create music that contains components of copyrighted songs, which presents serious ethical issues.
